Eric Martin Enters ECWA Super 8
The 24th annual tournament takes place April 18 in New Castle, DE.

The Wrestling Estate has learned the next name slated for the 24th annual ECWA Super 8.
“Classic” Eric Martin is scheduled for the one-night tournament on April 18 at the Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle, DE. This will be the first Super 8 organized under Joe Zanolle, who took over the promotion in December.
“Eric Martin has already made a great name for himself in the Northeast in his young career,” Zanolle says. “He cut his teeth in ECWA as Kid USA. After shedding his mask, he formed a great team with Tyler Stone as ECWA Tag Team Champions The Classics. After returning to singles action, he formed yet another successful tag team with Super 8 alumnus John Skylar. Martin returns to ECWA and the Super 8 to prove his worth as a singles competitor once again and boost his career with a win in the longest-running eight-man single elimination tournament in wrestling history.”
This past Saturday, Martin defeated Napalm Bomb and Killian McMurphy to win the vacant ECWA Mid-Atlantic Championship. The Philadelphia native broke into the sport in 2015 and continues to hone his craft throughout the Northeast independent scene. Collecting titles everywhere he goes, Martin is also one-half of the current MCW Tag Team Champions with John Skyler. Over the past year, he has competed against top duos like SoCal Uncensored, Guerrillas of Destiny and Best Friends. A student at the Ring of Honor Dojo, he’s also appeared in dark matches in ROH, as well as at Future of Honor events.
“I am extremely honored and humbled to be in this year’s Super 8,” Martin told The Wrestling Estate. “ECWA is where I got my start in wrestling a little over five years ago. I have always dreamed of being a part of this special night like so many other great athletes before me. I will be stepping into this tournament as a member of the Ring of Honor Dojo. I look forward to making my coaches, family and everyone who’s supported my journey proud!”
The Wrestling Estate previously broke the news that Vinny Pacifico was the first name announced for this year’s Super 8. Also announced for this year’s tournament is Ricky Reyes aka Cortez Castro from Lucha Underground.
For almost a quarter century, the ECWA Super 8 Tournament has become a launching pad for undiscovered, up-and-coming talents to get noticed throughout the industry. Previous winners include former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, former MLW World Heavyweight Champion Low Ki, former ROH World Champion Christopher Daniels, seven-time WWE Tag Team Champion Xavier Woods and many other notable names. In recent years, the Super 8 has propelled participants into MLW. Richard Holliday won the 2018 tourney and the Von Erichs competed in last year’s Legacy tourney, which featured all second and third-generation wrestler.
Even if you don’t take home the trophy, an impressive showing in the tournament can raise your stock. Look no further than Ty Awesome, whose breakout performance in the 2018 edition led him to the ECWA Heavyweight Championship.
The 24th Annual Super 8 takes place Saturday, April 18, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle, DE.
